'Maeda stay is essential for Rodgers'

CELTIC legend Chris Sutton says any talk of the club selling Daizen Maeda is simply daft.

Sutton is a big fan of the Japan international, who was extremely effective largely playing in an umfamiliar central attacking role last season.

"It would be absolutely ridiculous to even entertain any notion of letting the attacker go right now," said Sutton.

"I don't care what anyone says about the Celtic model or the prospect of a big-money bid.

"Maeda simply cannot be allowed to depart right now, for any money.
