Get ready for more goal mayhem at the Etihad as Frank bids to punish Pep and emulate Mourinho and Conte

- BY KEITH WEBSTER

PULL up your favourite chair, grab some food and drink, and strap in at 12.30pm on Saturday for a potential goal fest.

There is a good reason for TV bosses selecting Manchester City versus Tottenham as a highlight for the weekend because the last six league games between these two sides on this ground have been explosive.

Two City wins, two Tottenham wins, two draws, 28 goals in six games, with the lowest scoring fixture a 3-0 win for City.

And if you want to add a little more spice, then how about Thomas Frank?

The new Spurs manager took his Brentford side to the Etihad in November 2022 and returned to London with a 2-1 victory.

If Frank can lead his new team to a win on Saturday lunchtime, he will join Jose Mourinho (Real Madrid 2012, Manchester United 2018) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea 2016, Spurs 2022) as the only managers ever to beat Pep Guardiola away in the league with two different clubs.

It is not unrealistic to say that Tottenham's 4-0 win at the Etihad last November was a real staging post for Guardiola in accepting that a rebuild was needed.
