Littler eyes World Matchplay prize... but again fails to hit bullseye in driving test theory exam

LUKE LITTLER failed his driving test theory exam for the fourth time this week - but the teenager is ready to release the handbrake and go full throttle at the Betfred World Matchplay.

In a frank assessment of his first six months as reigning world champion, Luke the Nuke admits he's had an “up and down season” with the crown weighing heavier than the L-plates on his car.

But Littler begins his campaign at Blackpool's Winter Gardens tomorrow night as the title sponsor's 2-1 favourite to become king of the Golden Mile on July 27.

At 18, he has won five TV majors already - but he stalled, like a driving test dunce attempting a hill start, in the spiritual home of saucy postcards against Michael van Gerwen 12 months ago.
