FANTASTIC SCOUSERS

AN IRISH Liverpool fan praised heroic Scousers for pushing his family to safety as a car careered into crowds during the club's title parade.

Paul O'Brien was in the city with his 11-year-old son Danny and his parents to celebrate the Reds' Premier League victory.

Paul, 39, from Slane, Co Meath, told how fellow Liverpool fans pushed him, his son and his parents Marie, 66, and Peter, 63, to safety.

He said: "The next thing we knew we could hear the car and then we were getting shoved out of the way.

"It carried on through the crowd and you could hear "thud, thud, thud. A paramedic on a bike was hit too. It was horrible."

DREAD

"If it wasn't for those amazing Liverpool fans I dread to think what would have happened. We may not have been here today."

Meanwhile, Jack Trotter, his girl-friend Abbie Gallagher, and another man Ross Welsh, all from the North, were also caught up in the mayhem.

Jack, from Newtownards, Co Down, was yesterday discharged from hospital and said he was in "agony".

He added: "I've got a million texts asking if I'm OK. The parade was unreal until the very end.

"I was hit. However, I'm extremely lucky as I dodged the car just in time. I'm in shock how an event like this can turn to such a tragedy."

Ross, from Lisburn, said: "Once the videos started coming out and you realise it was that car we were close to, I was quite shaken up. I'm just thankful."
