With safety secured, Tommy wants 'a rattle at Championship'
TOMMY DURNIN says Louth players "died for the jersey" in a win over Meath that preserved their Division Two status.
Durnin heaped praise on his team, who survived an injury crisis that left them down 10 starters from last year's All-Ireland quarter-final defeat by Donegal.
Ger Brennan's side defeated Meath 1-19 to 0-17 at Inniskeen on Sunday with Durnin claiming "men were really tuned in".
A week earlier it was a different feeling with Durnin revealing that on the bus home after a 1-23 to 0-18 defeat in Cork, the Louth players felt ashamed of what they put into the game.
