Doherty's tribute to late star Jota

MATT Doherty has paid tribute to “incredible human being” Diogo Jota ahead of tomorrow's emotional Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Doherty spent three seasons with Jota at Wolves before the pair moved on in 2020 — the Ireland defender to Tottenham and Jota to the Reds.

The Portugal international was killed in a car crash in Spain during the summer, along with his brother Andre Silva.

Doherty admitted that he struggled early in the season to come to terms with the passing of his former teammate.

And he hopes Wolves, currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just two points from 17 games, can put on a performance against Liverpool to make their former player proud.
