Couple were subjected to 'vile' poison pen campaign

A COUPLE were subjected to a “vile” poison pen campaign following the death of young GAA fan Joe Deacy, a court has heard yesterday.

Peter and Ann Byrne, of Gortnasillagh, Swinford, Co Mayo, received 40 “vile” messages on Christmas cards, birthday cards, a wedding anniversary card, and a Mother's Day card, Castlebar Circuit Court was told.
