CHI chief to apologise for a litany of scandals

CHILDREN’S Health Ireland chief Lucy Nugent will today admit the body failed children.

In her opening statement to the Oireachtas Health Committee, Ms Nugent will say sorry eight times for a litany of scandals at CHI, including the unauthorised use of springs in spinal surgeries.

Former chief Eilish Hardiman will also attend the hearing to answer questions from TDs and Senators.

In the opening statement, Ms Nugent will say: “I say to you, I say to the children and families impacted and to the Irish people, that I am sorry.
