Soccer, Gaelic football and of course billiards and then snooker - he'd likely have given Sean Kelly a run for his money if you had parked his backside on a bike.

Like most Tyrone men though, GAA was a first and lasting love and it wasn’t just shouting for the Red Hands from the stands at Healy Park either - he featured prominently in the county minor team which made an All-Ireland semi-final in the 1960s.

Taylor said: "I played for Tyrone minors the year Kerry beat us in the semi-final although I didn’t play in the game.

“I remember playing at Casement Park - I had scored in every round up to the semi-final.”
