WE might be only three days into a brand new year but, as the inter-county juggernaut gets up and running, the club GAA season is heading towards a fascinating finale.

- BY JOHN O'DOWD

This weekend it’s the turn of the footballers to contest the All-Ireland senior, intermediate and junior club semifinals, with two battles in the highest grade.

At Paire Ui Chaoimh this afternoon, Dingle and Ballyboden St Enda’s come face to face, with the Dublin side hotly fancied to go on and lift the title in a fortnight.

Scoring an average of over two goals a game, with the Basquel brothers, Daire Sweeney, Ryan O'Dwyer and Ross McGarry in red-hot attacking form, this is a formidable unit.

When you add in Galway star Cein Darcy, and former Kerry panellist Pa Warren, the Ballyboden outfit look strong and powerful all over the field.

However, Dingle, most certainly, cannot be underestimated. Any side with the Geaney attacking triumvirate of Paul, Dylan and Conor are capable of wreaking havoc.

The 7/2 on offer for a Dingle victory will definitely tempt some punters, but Ballyboden should just have enough in the locker to edge through a potential classic encounter (4-6 points at 10/3).
