Expert warns we are facing global extinction if we don't cut fossil fuel use

Our children and future grandchilden are staring down a “really terrible future” if humans fail to finally turn the tide on climate change, warned British Weather Services’ Jim Dale.

The entire world would slowly fall apart, little by little, ranging from the smallest of animals to the tallest plants, until there's nothing left, he said.

His warning came after the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) revealed the world's climate is more out of balance than ever before.

"The big story is what the WMO has come out with, which is the world's energy imbalance, and temperatures at the highest for 125,000 years; particularly ocean temperatures," Mr Dale said.

"That points to extinction. And I don't say that lightly. I say it in absolute terms. I'm saying, if things continue unabated as they are, then we are facing, as a human race, potential extinction."
