Tributes paid to 'kind' grandmum

Wendy drowns in bid to save pet dog

TRIBUTES have poured in for a 'truly kind' grandmother who tragically drowned while trying to save her family dog.

Wendy Maxine Herbst, who was in her 70s, died at Magherabeg beach in Wicklow at around 2pm on Saturday.

The alarm was raised and an extensive rescue operation was launched but her body was recovered at around 4pm.

Beloved Wendy will be missed by her adoring husband, her loving children and their partners and her 10 grandchildren.
