John McAreavey calls for State to help over honeymoon murder in Mauritius

JOHN McAreavey has spoken out on getting justice for late wife Michaela nearly 15 years after her death.

The teacher was from Co Tyrone and was the daughter of All-Ireland Senior Football Championship-winning manager Mickey Harte.

She was murdered on January 10, 2011, - 10 days after her wedding - while honeymooning in Mauritius with her new husband John.

Since then, no one has ever been convicted of her murder and her family is asking the Government to assist in getting the Mauritian authorities to finally find justice for Michaela.

John released a statement after meeting with Tanaiste Simon Harris and revealed that he is still fighting for accountability.
