Hero keeper Horvath wins it for brave young Owls

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

SHEFF'S KISS WEDNESDAY!

ETHAN HORVATH was the hero as Sheffield Wednesday dumped Leeds out after winning a dramatic penalty shootout 3-0.

The Owls goalkeeper saved spot-kicks from Joel Piroe and Sean Longstaff (below), while Dominic Calvert-Lewin blazed over.

And with Barry Bannan, Ike Ugbo and Liam Palmer netting for the hosts from 12 yards, it ensured they progressed to the Carabao Cup third round on an emotional evening.

The scrutiny on Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri was magnified off the field, but his players certainly did the club proud on it.

A youthful Owls side deservedly led in the 63rd minute courtesy of a horrendous own goal by Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Former Sheffield United man Jayden Bogle levelled in the 81st minute to take the game to a penalty shootout.
