RORY MCILROY roared back into contention at the Masters with a second round 66.

The world No.2 joined a pack of big stars chasing the title with Justin Rose holding the clubhouse lead. Mcllroy's latest bid to complete his career Grand Slam here looked over when he made two late double bogeys in his first round of 72.
But after a steady start to his second round, Mcllroy caught fire on a warm day to make three birdies and an eagle from the pine straw on 13 in his bogey-free round.
