Pop star Ronan Keating celebrates his late brother's love of Ireland's west coast in new travel series Wild Atlantic
-
Boyzone star Ronan Keating embarks on a heartbreaking journey for his new travel series, visiting the places in Ireland that his late brother loved the most.
Ciarán died in a car crash in County Mayo in July 2023, and in honour of his older sibling, the Irish singer set out to explore the area where Ciarán had built a life with his family.
"It started out as a beautiful travelogue of the west coast of Ireland, where I used to spend my childhood holidays. It evolved more into a journey to discover why my brother chose the west coast of Ireland," says Ronan, 49. "It turned into this kind of journey to understand my brother's decisions, and really it just made me fall in love more with the west coast."
Before making the series, the Dublin-born star hadn't spent much time in the country of his birth, instead living with his wife Storm and their two kids (he also has three adult children with first wife Yvonne) in London, Dubai and Australia.
"Ireland for me was always a little bit difficult, because I became well known at a young age and almost it was hard to be there," he explains. "When you're naive and you're young and in the dark about fame - we didn't have anyone teach us or help us or guide us in that - we were thrown to the wolves at 16 years of age.
