First pix of Imelda & Co in new series of The Crown
THE first pictures of Imelda Staunton as the Queen in the new series of The Crown have been released.
The 66-year-old star is the third actress to take the role in the long-running Netflix show, following in the footsteps of Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.
Season five launches next month with Elizabeth Debicki playing Diana and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip.
Imelda said: "What has been nice is people saying 'I'm really looking forward to seeing you as the Queen'. I hope I don't prove them wrong." The new episodes are set in the 1990s, a turbulent decade for the Royal Family.
