DAVE THE WAVE

STORM Dave is set to batter Bank Holiday plans with the whole country placed under a Yellow wind warning for Easter.

The National Severe Weather and Flooding Coordination Group was forced into an emergency meeting to tackle the threat from the fourth named storm of the year.

It issued stark warnings to the public as the storm barrels towards our shores.

Thousands of families who have packed their cars for an Easter break are being urged to brace themselves for dangerous travel conditions, violent winds, and widespread coastal flooding.

Following the emergency meeting of Local Authorities, Met Eireann, Government departments, and utility providers, authorities have made it clear that the upcoming adverse weather will present a major hazard.

Met Eireann has slapped a Status Yellow wind warning across the entire country, putting the State on high alert.

According to the latest severe weather and flooding advisories, the Status Yellow wind alert will last from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday.

Authorities are bracing for dangerous weather hazards, including fallen trees, branches crashing onto roads, displaced debris, and significant damage from flying loose objects.

For families hitting the road for their Easter holidays, the message is take care.

Drivers are being warned to anticipate violent, damaging west to south west gusts that could easily bring down trees.
