DAVID CLIFFORD notched 1-3 in a 15 minute cameo off the bench at Fitzgerald Stadium to put a gloss on the scoresheet for Kerry.

- BY MURT MURPHY

The result all but relegates Monaghan and it came after an uninspiring opening half that was notable only for a three point contribution from Paudie Clifford. Kerry led just 0-5 to 0-4 at half time.

All Monaghan had to show for their first half endeavours was points from Cameron Dowd, Oisin McGorman, Karl Gallagher and Dessie Ward, with two of those scores coming from their half back line.

The third quarter saw Kerry move 0-9 to 0-4 clear as Monaghan found the going tough playing against a wind that appeared to have increased it ferocity.
