Mumbai's island city records 100 mm of rainfall as monsoon makes a comeback

Mumbai's island city recorded three-digit rainfall figures in the last 24 hours as the monsoon made a comeback after a dry spell of nearly three weeks.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai's coastal observatory at Colaba recorded 100.4 mm of rainfall during the 24-hour cycle that ended at 8.30 am Monday, while the Santacruz observatory recorded 86 mm of rainfall during this same period.

The weather bureau has placed Mumbai and its neighbouring districts of Thane and Palghar under a yellow alert till 8.30 am on Tuesday, indicating moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue. Meanwhile, the Raigad district has been kept under a red alert during this period.
