Williams will play in final - Peters

ALTHOUGH all attention is on tonight's Super League match with Warrington Wolves, Willie Peters expects preparations to be quite different for the Challenge Cup final, predicting George Williams will be fit enough to play.

The Wire skipper has not featured since undergoing surgery on an ankle injury in April, with his side later securing their place in the showcase event at Wembley with a semi-final win over Leigh Leopards.

The original prognosis ruled him out until the end of June, but the influential half-back has already admitted he is attempting to return quicker than any rugby league player has done before, in time to make the Challenge Cup showdown on Saturday, June 7.

His recovery is following a programme pioneered by Leinster Rugby, known for enabling rapid player returns.
