Statement win as outstanding first half sees off the Wolves
Hull Daily Mail
|April 14, 2025
Hull FC delivered one of their biggest statements of the John Cartwright era to date, producing an outstanding first-half display to defeat Warrington Wolves 28-16 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Getting into their groove, they controlled the game for the majority of the opening forty minutes - with a completion rate over 90 per cent paving the way for a 26-4 half-time lead.
That rate soured after the break with a strong Warrington surge, led by George Williams, fighting their way back. But it was Hull who held on for a seventh successive away victory and, with that, maintained their second spot on the Super League table ahead of Good Friday's re-match against Hull KR.
From the loose-forward position, John Asiata led the way. He was nothing short of outstanding, directing Hull's attack with every shift play going through him. And once Aidan Sezer and Cade Cust got their hands on the ball, good things happened.
Producing their most fluent attack of the season, Hull clicked into gear and were a joy to watch in the first half. As expected, Warrington rolled the dice in the second half, but Hull weathered the storm, and in truth, never came close to losing.
