DON'T you think it’s weird the way chefs call each other “chef” the whole time, as if they're way too busy to remember each other’s names?

I do understand the tradition behind it - its roots are in French kitchen culture - but that doesn’t make it any less odd. Not least because it sounds as if they're calling each other Geoff.I guess that’s why we don't hear of many high-profile Geoffs in the cheffing business. It would get too confusing. Maybe over the years there have been a few, but fearing potential kitchen chaos they've wisely changed their names before becoming famous: Geoff Ramsay, Geoff Oliver, Geoff Ainsworth, Geoff Stein, the Swedish Geoff from the Muppets, people like that. Anyway, the reason I’m banging on about th
