RUGBY league enters its 131st year in 2026, with Super League celebrating its 30th birthday and England looking to salvage some pride in another World Cup tournament.

And as always, it’s all set to be dramatic, captivating, and at times, frustrating and mind-boggling, with the drama and big stories the reason we get sucked in year after year.

But what do we desire above all else this season? Here, All Out Rugby League lists five New Year wishes for 2026.

Hull KR broke the Super League stranglehold in 2025, becoming just the fifth different team to win the competition since its inception in 1996 and the first new winner since 2004. The Robins were outstanding throughout the year and were the clear and standout team on all fronts, completing a historic treble.
