THE Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Alison Healy, has explained why the "vibrant" East Yorkshire market town should enter the race to become the UK's first Town of Culture.
The Government is hoping to replicate the success of the renowned City of Culture award, which Hull received in 2017, with a new Town of Culture offering.
Beverley is one of a number of East Riding towns to have shown an interest in the new competition. Pocklington, Bridlington, and Driffield have also registered interest.
