Ram Lalla idol placed in sanctum sanctorum

The idol of the infant god Ram, or Ram Lalla, was enthroned in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya at 12.30pm on Thursday amid Vedic rituals and chanting of shlokas, as part of the elaborate rituals leading up to the main consecration ceremony on January 22.

As many as 121 priests started the Vedic rituals at the sanctum sanctorum with the unwrapping of the black-stone idol, on the third day of the weeklong rituals leading up to the ceremony on Monday.
