LS approves motion to extend Waqf JPC term

The Lok Sabha on Thursday extended the term of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) scrutinising the controversial amendments to the Waqf Act till the last day of the budget session in 2025, in a temporary reprieve for the Opposition parties that wanted more parleys.

The controversial bill that aims for radical changes in the Waqf management had been a major bone of contention between the ruling side and the INDIA bloc.
