'India now Vishwa Mitra, brings guarantee of stability in world'

India's role in the global economy and supply chain has brought a "guarantee of stability in the world" and its presidency of the G20 have showcased the abilities of the common people and the country's diversity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of Independence Day, Modi said the world is showing a "new hope and a new attraction" towards the potential of India, and a new trust in the country is growing around the globe.

Referring to India's efforts to position itself as the voice of the Global South during the G20 presidency, he said the country's prosperity and heritage are turning into opportunities for the world. "With India's participation in the global economy and the global supply chain and with the place that India has earned for itself, I can say with full confidence that the current scenario in India today has brought a guarantee of stability in the world," he said, speaking in Hindi.
