IIT-BHU student stripped, molested near campus

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly harassed by three unidentified men at the Indian Institute of Technology-Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) campus late on Wednesday night, police officers said, adding that the accused also recorded a video of the incident.

The incident triggered protests on the campus, with students demanding that the entry of outsiders be restricted.
According to a complaint filed by the woman, she had gone out of her hostel with a friend on Wednesday night. They were near the Karman Baba temple, when three men riding a motorcycle accosted them, forcibly took the 21-year-old to a corner and gagged her after separating her from her friend.
The accused allegedly stripped the woman, assaulted her, and recorded a video of the incident.
They let her go after 15 minutes and took her phone number, as per the complaint.
