Heatwave grips Delhi for 3rd day: red alert issued

The Capital's brutal heatwave showed no signs of letting up on Wednesday, marking the third consecutive day of extreme weather as temperatures stayed above 43°C and soaring humidity levels added to residents' discomfort.

NEW DELHI: A naked body of an unidentified man was found dumped near the Gayatri Gaushala area in outer north Delhi's Swaroop Nagar on Wednesday morning, police said.

According to officials, a call alerting local police about the body was received around 7:15 a.m. "The body was found lying near a property dealer's office," an officer said.

The victim, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, had visible injuries on the head, hands, neck and back, suggesting he may have been assaulted before being dumped.

Preliminary probe indicates the man may have been murdered elsewhere. No identification documents were found, and locals could not identify him, police said. Police described the victim as around 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin built, with black hair and a wheatish complexion.

Efforts to identify him are underway through local enquiries and CCTV footage. The body was sent to BJRM Hospital for autopsy.
