Challans, border vigil: Cops crack down on Grap violators

The Delhi Traffic Police prosecuted more than 6,200 vehicles on Monday for breaching anti-pollution norms under the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap) Stage 4 rules, officers said on Tuesday, warning that they will crack down hard on violators in the coming days.

Grap Stage 4 was imposed in Delhi and NCR on Monday, after the air quality index (AQI) reading jumped above 450 to settle at 494. Under the rules, only electric, CNG, BS-6 diesel vehicles, and BS-4 and above petrol vehicles are allowed to enter Delhi.
In addition, vehicles used for essential services are permitted to enter the city.
