The 2022 Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards, India's top science prize, will be conferred on 12 scientists, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research announced on Monday.

After 1-yr delay, top national science awards announced

The awards were announced with almost a year's delay on Monday by CSIR director general N Kalaiselvi in the presence of science minister Jitendra Singh on the sidelines of the One Week One Lab programme of the National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research.

The Bhatnagar Awards are generally announced every year on September 26, the foundation day of CSIR. "Congratulate the faculty members of IISc Bengaluru, IIT-Gandhinagar, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, and IIT-Madras, who have been honoured with the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology 2022. The prestigious award is a testament of their outstanding contributions towards furthering human knowledge and progress as well as excellence in the field of applied research," education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.
