45 days and grand confluence: Kumbh ends with final ‘snan’

MAHAKUMBH NAGAR: The Maha Kumbh, believed to be the world’s largest religious gathering, concluded in Prayagraj on Wednesday, with millions of devotees taking a holy dip in the waters of the sangam — the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers — on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
As part of the closing ceremony of the mega religious event, Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi fighter jets, AN-32 transport aircraft, and Chetak helicopters performed thrilling manoeuvres in the sky in the afternoon, enthralling millions present at the Mahakumbh Nagar — a makeshift 76th district set up for the 45-day grand fair.
From January 13, when the Maha Kumbh began on Paush Purnima, till today on the occasion of Mahashivratri... In 45 days, more than 66.21 crore (662 million) devotees have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. This is unprecedented in world history and truly unforgettable,” Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on X.
