Wholesale inflation inches up to 2.4% in February

India's merchandise exports in February fell by about 11% to $36.91 billion compared to $41.41 billion in the same month last year, but the services sector and non-petroleum merchandise saved the overall (goods and services combined) monthly exports from sinking into the red with 3.2% year-on-year growth at $71.95 billion this month.

While India's merchandise exports contracted for the fourth consecutive month in February 2025, its services export in the month jumped by 23.64% to $35.03 billion as against $28.33 billion in February 2024, according to the latest data.
Commerce secretary Sunil Barthwal on Monday said that despite global trade disruptions and geopolitical challenges India's overall exports (both merchandise and services) in the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2025 would surpass the $778.2 billion figure achieved in 2023-24.
NEW DELHI: India's wholesale inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), was 2.4% in February, up slightly from 2.3% in January, according to data released by the Union ministry of commerce and industry on Monday.
