State Govt Flags 61 Schools Over Poor Class 10 Results

The Jharkhand education department has directed the deputy commissioners (DCs) and department officials to show cause, investigate, and remove headmasters of seven schools where all students failed the Class 10 Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) exams, officials said on Saturday, adding that a similar direction has been issued for 54 more schools where 50% of the students have failed.

In a letter to the DCs and district education officers (DEOs), Jharkhand education secretary Umashankar Singh directed a probe, show cause, and transfer of the headmasters concerned in these 61 schools where most of the students have failed.

Singh's letter mentioned the seven schools with 100 per cent failure, among which three schools from East Singhbhum district figure—Mithila High School (Sonari, Jamshedpur), Michael John Girls High School (Golmuri, Jamshedpur), and Government High School (Birsanagar). The other four on the list are Model School (Palkot, Gumla), UPG High School (Kajladaha, Dumka), R Mitra High School (Deoghar), and Upgraded High School (Sonagara, West Singhbhum). The DEOs have been asked to upload the probe report on the e-Vidyavahini portal by June 19.
