Minister seeks NEP '20 relaxation for Class 12

Jharkhand higher education minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu on Saturday requested Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar to consider an amendment to the latter's directive to stop Class 12 studies in the inter colleges across the state in accordance with the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The move came after Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Roy spoke with the minister and other concerned officials, including Raj Bhavan officials, proposing an amendment to the Governor's order to allow +2 students who have already registered with the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) from many inter colleges to appear in the final exams, for which the form-filling is scheduled in December.

"I have sent a letter to the Governor's office today requesting a rethink and to consider a certain amendment to his earlier order to allow already registered +2 students to continue this time for once. We hope for a positive response from the Governor's office, and the problem faced by thousands of students will then be amicably resolved," the Jharkhand minister told HT over the phone from Ranchi.
