Marandi slams minister over Shariat remark, seeks ouster

Leader of the Opposition and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babulal Marandi on Monday sought the removal of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and minority welfare minister Hafizul Hassan from the state cabinet over his remark that "Shariat was more important for him than the Constitution".
RANCHI: Leader of the Opposition and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babulal Marandi on Monday sought the removal of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and minority welfare minister Hafizul Hassan from the state cabinet over his remark that "Shariat was more important for him than the Constitution".
Addressing reporters in Giridih on Monday, Marandi said Hassan's remark shows the double standards of the Congress and the JMM, who vow in the name of the Constitution granted by Babasaheb Ambedkar but "whose minister says he keeps Shariat above the Constitution".
