Land Documents Theft Case: Three Arrested From Katihar District

Bhagalpur police on Tuesday arrested three persons for stealing land-related documents from the record room in September last year and recovered some of the stolen documents, officials said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to arrest land brokers from Katihar and Purnia who were allegedly involved in the theft.

Bhagalpur city superintendent of police (SP) Shubhank Mishra, who led the investigation, said that acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of stolen land documents in Katihar, the police arrested two persons—Akhtar Ansari and Rohtaz Khan alias M. P. Khan. Based on their interrogation, another accused, Bhaskar Khan alias Razab Khan, was also arrested from Katihar.

All the arrested individuals are residents of Katihar. Police recovered land documents dating back to 1950, 1978, 1984, 1985, 1990, and 1991 from their possession. The arrested persons revealed crucial details during the interrogation.
