Interns at RIMS push for raise in stipend

New interns of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), who are all 2020 batch MBBS students, knocked on the door of director Dr Raj Kumar for revision of their stipend in line with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), an insider said on Friday.

According to the RIMS insider, the interns, who are presently getting a ₹26,300 stipend, are demanding ₹30,070, justifying their demand by citing a government notification that supports the same amount.

“The interns want a stipend in accordance with the official Jharkhand Gazette (22nd September 2014) and Government of India Notification (F.No. V-16020/57/2008-ME-IPt) dated 15/05/2013,” the insider said.

The official shared a copy of the representation signed by 180 interns of the institute.
