Finance Minister Announced Many Measures That She Expected Would Help Make Indian Exports More Competitive
NEW DELHI: On February 1, India's finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her eighth Union Budget. This year's budget was tabled at a precarious economic juncture, for India and for the world. India has been challenged by slowing growth, persistent inflation, and global uncertainties motivated in part by the return of Donald Trump to the White House just a few weeks ago.
On last week's episode of Grand Tamasha, a weekly podcast on Indian politics and policy co-produced by HT and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, HT's Editor-in-Chief R Sukumar joined host Milan Vaishnav to assess how the finance minister approached this delicate moment.
