Bihar Mines Department Moots Awarding Sand-Mining Lease to Works Departments

Mines and geology department is contemplating amending the rules to allow works departments to get direct lease of ghats for mining of sand for its civil projects.
PATNA:
This will be done to avoid delay in execution of major projects due to non-availability or delayed supply of sand, a vital component for construction.
Confirming the move, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who also holds mines and geology portfolio, on Sunday said the works departments or their construction arms would be offered the lease of river bank for sand-mining if they desired so.
