Organised under the aegis of the Jharkhand Sahayak Adhyapak Sangharsh Morcha, over 600,000 para teachers, redesignated as Sahayak Shikshak since 2023, will lay siege to the state assembly from August 4to7 and chief minister Hemant Soren’s official residence on Kanke Road on September 5 to press for their demands, including equal pay for equal work.
Aletter from the organisation, submitted to the chief minister's office with copies sent to the assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto, school education and literacy department minister Ramdas Soren, state ministers, and school education and literacy department secretary on Monday, stated, “It is respectfully mentioned that during the last assembly elections in 2019, you promised in public meetings, in the manifesto of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and in many meetings with assistant teachers, that within three months of the formation of the government, the para teachers of Jharkhand would be given equal pay for equal work. All the Sahayak Shikshak of Jharkhand and their families played their role in forming the government by expressing faith and trust in your announcement, but our dream could not be fulfilled.”
