Kin Say Hooch Killed 8 In Alwar; Officials Deny

At least eight people died in a span of three days from April 26 after they allegedly consumed spurious liquor at Paitpur and Kishanpur villages in Alwar, the family members have alleged.

JAIPUR: However, dismissing the allegations, the district administration officials said that deaths were results of different reasons.

Alwar SP Sanjeev Nain said, "Villagers reported on Tuesday that eight people died after consuming spurious liquor. However, collector Artika Shukla formed a team, led by district excise officer Archana Jaiman. We have spoken to the family members of the victims. The reasons of their deaths seem to be different, which are not connected to any spurious liquor."

Officials said the incident happened in Alwar's Paitpur and Kishanpur villages between April 26 and April 28. The villagers on Wednesday called for a mahapanchayat and protested alleging that many illegal liquor shops are being run and are being ignored by the administration, resulting in this tragedy.
