Big Relief for Industry in New Excise Policy

The Hospitality Industry Will Now Be Allowed to House Just 10 Rooms Instead of 20 to Open a Bar

JAIPUR: The state government has issued the new excise policy under which a big relief has been offered to the hospitality industry, which will now be allowed to house just 10 rooms instead of 20 that was mandated earlier in order to open a bar.

For the first time, the new excise policy has been brought for four years instead of being brought annually.

The new Rajasthan Excise and Liquor Policy will remain in operation from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2029, said an official of the excise department on condition of anonymity.

Under the new policy, a provision has been made of increasing the guarantee money to be paid by 10% each year.

The number of liquor shops in the state remains unchanged at 7,665, but the government is bringing back the earlier provision of issuing licences to small contractors to run the shops.

Now, bars will also be allowed to open at airports.

The policy allows the existing store owners to renew their liquor licence. For fresh applicants, online bids will be invited in small batches.
