JAIPUR: US vice president JD Vance peppered his speech at the Rajasthan International Centre on Tuesday with references to his wife Usha's Indian heritage and his children's bonding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including a desire expressed by son Ewan to stay on in India.
Vance began his speech by pointing out that Usha, whose parents migrated from India in the 1970s, was in one of the front rows and asking her if he had correctly pronounced the name of Delhi's Akshardham Temple, which the couple visited on Monday. "She's a bit of a celebrity, it turns out, in India. I think more so than her husband, but I haven't been here long," he said.
