The Supreme Court ‘on Wednesday pulled up Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for taking more than four months to arrest two Madhya Pradesh police inspectors involved in the alleged custodial death of a 24-year-old man and sought an explanation from the agency over delay in complying with the court's arrest order on May 15.
A bench of justices BV ‘Nagarathna and R Mahadevan, while dealing with a contempt petition filed by the victim's mother questioning the inaction of the Madhya Pradesh govern-mentand CBI, remarked that had itnot been for this petition and the strong remarks made by the court last month threatening to summon the chief secretary and frame contempt charges, the arrests would have been further delayed.
