J&K Received Fewer Assets During Reorganisation: CM

Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir received relatively fewer assets during apportionment with Ladakh, with a significant portion of the iconic J&K House in Delhi going to the latter, but added that the UT does not want to make an issue of it and is building a new JK Bhawan.

He also said that a prime property near Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh also went to Ladakh.

Responding to a query by NC legislator Tanvir Sadiq, Abdullah admitted that the apportionment wasn't equal but that the government believes it was important that the process was "mutual" and "unanimous" with some "give and take". He pointed out that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are "still fighting over assets in court". Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated in June 2014.

In his query in the assembly, Sadiq asked whether the "distribution was unfair" and sought details of "any timeline to come up with the new building".
