SC Setback for Former RJD MP Subhash Yadav

The Government and Complainant Bhim Verma Had Challenged an HC Order Before the Supreme Court

PATNA: In a major setback for former RJD MP Subhash Prasad Yadav, the apex court set aside an order of the Patna High Court and remanded the matter back to the HC.

Patna HC on March 15, 2024, had quashed an FIR against Subhash, brother-in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad. The FIR was lodged against him on charges of land grab, cheating, extortion, intimidation, and other sections of IPC. He had on February 13, 2024, surrendered before the special MP-MLA court of Patna fearing arrest and attachment of his property. The special MP-MLA court had already declared him an absconder. The SC on October 10, 2023, had rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Subhash Yadav. He had on December 20, 2023, filed a criminal writ before the HC to quash the FIR registered against him and family members with the Neora police outpost of rural Patna on May 4, 2023.
