RJD legislator from Danapur Ritlal Yadav (53), facing charges of extortion, forgery, and issuing death threats, on Thursday walked into Danapur court with his four accomplices and surrendered without any trouble.
PATNA:
Ritlal is the second 'bahubali' politician after former Mokama MLA Anant Singh to surrender in court before the police could catch him. Police were on a manhunt for him for the last five days.
Ritlal, whose premises were raided by Bihar police in an extortion case on April 11, has been a known strongman in the Danapur belt in Patna district for years now. He currently faces 42 criminal cases including those of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, rioting as well as those under the Arms Act at Danapur, Bihta, Khagaul, Rupaspur and Shahpur police station areas.
In 2003, Ritlal was booked for the murder of BJP leader Satyanarayan Sinha, but was acquitted by the Patna MP-MLA court in 2024. The victim's widow, former Danapur MLA Asha Sinha, has challenged this acquittal in the Patna High Court, where the case is pending.
