|July 09, 2025
India’s electricity demand in the quarter through June declined almost 1.5% from a year earlier, following a cooler summer that reduced the use of energy-intensive air conditioners.
Demand fell to 445.8 billion kilowatt hours in the period, according to data from the government's Central Electricity Authority. That's the first contraction since 2020, when the pandemic brought the economy toa halt, according to Bloomberg News calculations.
